What is the FBA?
The Fairfax Business Association is a non-profit volunteer-run organization formed for the purpose of beautifying and revitalizing Fairfax Village. Fairfax Avenue, from Wilshire Blvd to West Hollywood, is a cross-section of Los Angeles -- historic Jewish delis, bakeries and kosher stores alongside new, cutting-edge street/skateboard boutiques, nightclubs, and restaurants, all adjacent to such regional landmarks as the historic Los Angeles Farmers Market; The Grove; CBS Television City, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The FBA’s immediate goal is to recruit members to help achieve our vision, which includes:
- Organizing merchants and neighbors and providing forums for their ideas and concerns
- Providing networking and social opportunities for members
- Stimulating and supporting the environment within Fairfax Village for healthy retail, restaurant and commercial activities
- Creating an overall district that is clean and safe and economically vital
- Providing a high-quality of life and sense of pride within our village community
In doing so we expect to organically attract visitors and merchants alike, and ultimately bring Fairfax Village back to life as a bustling community and destination.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the board are, generally, held the first Tuesday of every other month at 9:30am at the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), located at 543 N. Fairfax Avenue. However, meeting dates and times may change to suit the growing membership needs. Sub-committees involved in special projects meet as needed. Members and non-members are invited to attend all meetings. To ensure you receive notice of meetings, subscribe to our email list or feel free to contact us.
General Membership meetings will be scheduled on a quarterly basis, and hosted by FBA merchants at their place of business.
Join us for a General Meeting and New Member Meet and Greet on Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 at Chameau, 339 N Fairfax Ave. Please RSVP to info@fbala.com.
2008 General Membership Meetings - TBD
Community Partners
The FBA recognizes that there is power in numbers and strength in community, and has aligned itself with other local entities including the Mid City WEST Community Council and the Fairfax High School Revitalization Committee. Together we have a stronger voice, the ability to attain more funding and a collective support system which will help in implementing shared projects.
We are also proud of our strong working relationships with the Hollywood Division of the LAPD; the office of Councilmember Jack Weiss; The Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative (LANI); the Hollywood Beautification Team (HBT); the LADWP - Trees for a Green LA; the City of LA, Office of Community Beautification; National Council of Jewish Women, the West 3rd Street Business Association and the City of West Hollywood.
